APWA’s Professional Manager of the Year in Public Fleet award winner for the year 2019

Rob Sizemore is currently the Equipment Supervisor for the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati. He has been working in Public Fleet for over 30 years. He began his career as a mechanic with the City of Cincinnati Municipal Garage and worked his way up through the ranks. He holds two certifications in Fleet Management, from APWA (CPFP) and from NAFA (CAFM).

Rob’s expertise and loyalty to the City of Cincinnati has well served many of the major departments with their expansive and diverse fleets including the Public Works Department, Water Works Department, General Services Department and Metropolitan Sewer Department. Among the innovations Rob has initiated are: Utilization of GPS to insure operator compliance with Federal CDL Requirements and internal policies; and implementation of software to support technician’s ability to diagnose equipment leading to reduction in downtime and repair cost reduction.

Rob continues to attend conferences and seminars to learn and incorporate best practices into his workplace. He is active in numerous professional organizations and has served as Board of Director on the Southwest Ohio APWA branch as well as President of NAFA, National Association of Fleet Administrators.

Rob also serves the local communities in many other ways, such as leading a “Toys for Tots” campaign. The agency’s “Touch a Truck” Program encourages elementary students to explore the equipment and learn more about the work provided by the city. This goes a long way to foster good relationships between the agency and the communities it serves. And perhaps it will inspire some of those children to consider a career in public service.
